Sensitive teeth are a common issue found in people all across the world. A tingling sensation on your teeth when you have something that is too cold or too hot, characterizes the issue of sensitive teeth.

Effective Home Remedies For Sensitive Teeth

Mustard Oil and Rock Salt

Applying a mixture made with a teaspoon of rock salt and a tablespoon of mustard oil on your teeth helps give relief to sensitive teeth. You need massage slowly and wash off only after 5 minutes.

Salt

Washing your mouth with a solution of salt in warm water twice daily helps soothe sensitive teeth.

Desensitizing Toothpaste

Sensitivity of your teeth due to enamel abrasion is something that dental fillings cannot treat. As such, you will need a good desensitizing toothpaste. The ingredients contained in it fill the channels in the dentin and give you relief from the tooth pain.

They are easily available in any medical shop. Take some cotton and apply some toothpaste over it. Before you sleep, spread the toothpaste on the affected areas to bring down the sensitivity. Make sure you do not rinse your mouth.

Clean Teeth

A white substance called plaque develops on your teeth if they are not cleaned well. The acid produced by plaque affects your teeth. As such, you need to make sure you brush your teeth twice daily to get rid of all the plaque formed. Flossing also should be done at least once in a day.

Good Toothbrush

Using a hard toothbrush and being too aggressive on your teeth will further increase the damage on them. The enamel on your teeth can get worn out if you brush too hard. This increases the sensitivity of your teeth.

So, you must make sure to get a good and soft toothbrush that puts no extra pressure on your teeth. Do not irritate your gums or brush too hard. Be very gentle with your teeth.

Avoid Tobacco

When you chew tobacco, your gum line tends to recede. As such, your teeth become prone to getting decayed and sensitive. It can even cause serious issues like mouth cancers.

It is just a common misconception that chewing tobacco is safer than cigarette smoking. So, you must ditch the habit if you want your teeth to be healthy.

Avoid Sensitivity Triggers

There are certain kinds of foods that can trigger sensitivity. They are basically too hot or too cold foods, or even foods containing high amounts of sugar. The best idea is to stay away from such foods, and not cause your teeth any kind of discomfort.
