Just consume 300 mg of it in the form of 2 or 3 dosages with an appropriate gap with the meal. Moreover it is more effective to cure mild depression cases only, as not much effective over strong depression. Also studies reveal that if used on the people suffering from liver or kidney disease and even during pregnancy, can produce strong adverse effects and thus should be avoided.

Omega-3 fatty acids

It is another natural source which is considered highly beneficial for our mental health. It strengthens the neurons, maintains a good blood circulation in the mind and make us free from sadness by making us refreshed.

It has been observed that its deficiency in our body impoverish the brain and creates risks to mental health. Cold water fishes e.g. salmon and sardines fish, cold olive oil, kidney beans, walnuts etc. are rich sources of omega -3 acids.

SAMe is the abbreviation used for S-adenosyl methionine. It is also generally termed as Sammy. These are rich in amino acid and can prove even more beneficial when taking with diet full of vitamin B6, B12 and folic acid.

It increases neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine and restore good mental health. It is advisable to take 400-1600 mg of it in the form of 3 doses half an hour before taking meal in a day. Although considered very safe, but in rare cases can produce minor side effects like constipation and nausea.

Gingko Biloba

It is yet another natural herb to treat depression. It is one of the oldest found species of trees on the earth. Its leaves are having medicinal effect to treat depression.

The extraction of Gingko Biloba is available in the market in the form of tincture, capsules or can also be used as tea. You can use it effectively for 7-8 weeks but not recommended longer.


5-HTP is the short form for its chemical name 5-hydroxy Tryptophen. It is an amino acid. Though very expensive, it is highly effective to treat depression. It enhances the level of serotonin and melatonin the essential neurons to make us happy and mentally fit.
